Performance intensification of heat exchanger tube fitted with double hyperbolic-cut twisted tape in turbulent flow

The purpose of the performed experiment is to evaluate the heat transfer, friction factor, and thermo-hydraulic performance for twisted tape (TT) having a double-sided hyperbolic cut profile in a heat exchanger tube (HET). The heat flux boundary condition is defined to the tube lateral surface. The influential parameters are considered as the cut ratio ( b/c = 0.2, 0.35, 0.5, 0.65) and Reynolds number (10,000 ≤ Re ≤ 22,000) to observe the effect of thermal–hydraulic characteristics. The twisted tape having cuts in the fluid flow zone causes swirl flow, promoting better fluid mixing between the near-wall and core regions of the HET. The obtained result shows the Nusselt number, friction factor, and performance. The results ramped up by 5.74‒25.22
