Driving under the influence of cannabis and alcohol: Evidence from a national sample of young drivers

•Over one million youth drive annually under the influence of cannabis/alcohol.•More youth drive under the influence (DUI) of cannabis (6.3%) than alcohol (2.6%).•Among past-year cannabis users, 24.5% report past-year DUI of cannabis.•Among past-year alcohol users, only 6.1% report past year DUI of alcohol.•Driving under the influence is highly associated with criminal justice involvement.
