Perception of late effects among long-term survivors after haematopoietic stem cell transplantation: Descriptive analysis and validation of the Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire. A sub-study of the PROVIVO study

•The most feared threat for HSCT survivors was long lasting late effects.•The German BIPQ showed an overall good content validity.•A confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the underlying construct of the BIPQ.•The German BIPQ provides deeper insights into HSCT-survivors’ perceptions.•Based on expert survey, improvements and adaptions in translation are required.
