Abstract
This work focuses on the synthesis and preliminary biological evaluation of [ 125 I]iodoprocainamide ([ 125 I]iodoPA) as a potential heart-imaging agent. [ 125 I]iodoPAwas synthesized by procainamide labeling with [ 125 I]iodide in high radiochemical yield and high radiochemical purity of both ≥98%. These results were obtained under optimized reaction conditions using chloramine-T as oxidizing agent within 30 min incubation period at pH 8 and 37°C reaction temperature. Ahigh uptake of 37.33 ± 0.15 percentage injected dose/g organ (%ID/ g) was found in the heart which confirmed the suitability of [ 125 I]iodoPA as a potential radiotracer for heart imaging.
