Abstract
It was found that the deposition of ultrafine and fine aerosol particles in a combined electrofilter with a “needle–filter element (metal fiber)” system that is significantly affected by the place of application of high voltage of negative polarity and the size range of submicron aerosol particles. The dependences of the relative change in the concentration of aerosol particles on the voltage applied to the needle electrodes (direct circuit) or the precipitation electrode (inverted circuit) are established. It was revealed that the direct power-supply circuit of the combined electrofilter is more effective for capturing aerosol particles of 1 μm or more at voltages up to 9–10 kV. It has been found that, for the capture of aerosol particles with a size of less than 0.5 microns at a supply voltage above 9 kV, the reverse power-supply scheme of the combined electrofilter is more effective.
