Enk A. Hall P.H. The International Societies for Investigative Dermatology: the realization of a vision for unity and collaboration in the advancement of investigative dermatology and cutaneous biology.J Invest Dermatol. 2014; 134: 1181-1183Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF PubMed Scopus (5) Google Scholar). The goal of the ISID was to unite all societies worldwide that are focused on investigative dermatology and cutaneous biology. It was our collective vision that such an organization would enhance scientific collaboration and jointly sponsor an abstract-driven, peer-reviewed meeting every 5 years. Over the last 10 years, the ISID has grown to include not only the JSID, ESDR, and SID but also investigative dermatology societies from Korea, Chinese Taipei, and the Australasian region. This year, the ISID will host our first international meeting in Tokyo from May 10 to 13. This meeting is being held in the Asia-Australasian region and hosted by the JSID and the Korean Society for Investigative Dermatology. ISID 2023 will bring together investigators from around the world for a peer-reviewed, abstract-driven meeting. Over 1,600 abstracts were submitted from 47 countries and were peer-reviewed by nine individuals from our member societies. They will be presented in 5 plenaries and 18 concurrent sessions and in electronic and traditional poster sessions (https://isid2023.org/abstract/outcomes/). In addition, there will be lectures by exceptional scientists from around the world. Leading scientists from the United States, Europe, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and Japan have been invited and can be reviewed online (https://isid2023.org/speakers/). We will also be highlighting our young investigators with a Future Leaders Symposium and Rising star lectures from the Americas, Europe – Middle East – Africa, and Asia-Australasia regions. The value of the scientific exchange and collaboration will also be enhanced by multiple social events for the attendees, including special social events for young investigators. The opportunities for meeting and collaborating with investigative dermatologists and skin biologists from around the world will be further enhanced by a robust collection of satellite symposiums held before and after the main meeting. In addition, 12 focused scientific disciplines will be holding small, high-quality gatherings before and after ISID 2023 that will be open to meeting participants (https://isid2023.org/satellite-symposia/). Topics include epidermolysis bullosa therapy, connective tissue diseases, itch, genetic diseases, severe cutaneous adverse reactions, cutaneous lymphoma, and others. This year, we will also be accepting late-breaking abstracts through March 31, 2023. These abstracts will allow investigators to present their most recent findings as a part either of a concurrent oral session or in the poster format—instructions for the submission of late-breaking abstracts can be accessed through https://isid2023.org/abstract/. ISID 2023 represents a unique opportunity for investigators focused on skin biology and investigative dermatology to gather in Tokyo and hear the latest groundbreaking research, state-of-the-art lectures from eminent scientists, and high-quality satellite symposia and enjoy the collegiality and culture of Japan. The ISID was conceived a decade ago to create an atmosphere of scientific exchange and collaboration between investigators focused on skin biology and skin diseases from around the world. ISID 2023 welcomes you to join in this inaugural meeting of the worldwide investigative dermatology community and launch the next decade of enhanced scientific collaboration and communication, which we all desire (https://isid2023.org/registration/). The authors state no conflict of interest.
