摘要
Introduction The cephalic extremity has an increased frequency of epitheliomas, such as basal cell carcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma. The most important ethiology factors appear to be exposure to ultraviolet radiation and genetic predisposition. Epitheliomas tend to occur in areas with chronic sun exposure and, therefore, literature suggests an increased incidence of them in the cephalic extremity. Although epitheliomas have a slow evolution and rarely metastasize, local proliferation and disfigurement may occur if untreated or incompletely resected. Material and Methods We will present cases of patients with cephalic extremity epitheliomas who have been diagnosed and treated in the framework of the Otolaryngology Clinic of the Coltea Clinical Hospital. Results and Conclusions Surgical excision within oncological safety limits plays a role in the patient's subsequent evolution. It continues to be a very effective treatment for primary epitheliomas and, statistically, is the most common treatment option. These are generally resected within the limits of oncological safety, and often, especially at the facial region, requiring grafts or flaps to close the residual defect. The therapeutic decision may be influenced by various factors, including the age and comorbidities of the patient, and subtype as well as lesion localization.
