摘要
Since the Transition, Spanish cinema has developed a significant preoccupation with our recent past, specifically the Second Republic, Civil War and Francoism. From the dictatorship, the post war period has acquired presence in films about repression, such us those belonging to the prison drama. Thus, Las 13 rosas (Emilio Martinez-Lazaro, 2007) and La voz dormida (2007) stand out, starring female characters mainly related to the Republican side. With the aim of studying the representation of women in this subgenre -marked by ideology, politics, and family life-, a qualitative methodology and an analysis of characters are used. Both films tend towards melodrama and delve into Franco's purge against various profiles of female prisoners.
