Abstract
With the rapid construction of a new power system dominated by renewable energy, the proportion of traditional units such as water and thermal power has decreased, making it difficult to meet the frequency regulation requirements of the power grid, so the system frequency security is facing huge challenges. This paper investigates the application of electrolytic aluminium high-energy load for auxiliary frequency regulation. By analyzing its production process and power supply system loop, its controllable amount is determined. A model of electrolytic aluminum high-energy controllable load is established to observe its power variation characteristics. IEEE 9-bus system model containing aluminum high-energy controllable load was built for simulation to analyze the effect of its auxiliary frequency regulation. The simulation demonstrates that the electrolytic aluminum high-energy controllable load has a relatively good auxiliary frequency regulation ability when the frequency disturbance occurs in the power system.
