Occurrence of Electric Ray, Narcine timlei (Bloch & Schneider, 1801) from Rushikulya Estuary, Odisha, India, as an Extension of Its Distribution Range

Electric ray, Narcine timlei (Bloch & Schneider, 1801), (family: Narcinidae and order: Torpediniformes), was recorded for the first time from the Rushikulya estuary, Odisha coast. A single specimen was collected during February 2022 from a shore-seine net operated at a depth of 2.0-2.2 m. This species was not reported earlier from the Rushikulya estuary and the coast with this depth range and low magnitude of salinity (8.15 & PTSTHOUSND;) as well. The present communication conveys its new report from the Rushikulya estuarine system and its new range of distribution to this depth and salinity in the east coast of India.
