Abstract
The conventional plastics take more time for degradation and burning the plastics also emit many toxic gases which affect environment. The starch-based biodegradable films were prepared for different concentrations of starch (5.3%, 6.5%, 8.3%, 9%, and 10.3%), while the amounts of distilled water, glycerol, and acetic acid were kept constant in this research work. The biodegradable films were made utilizing a film-forming solution and a casting process. The physical parameters of potato starch powder were determined, including the biodegradation, thickness, water absorption capacity, and moisture content. The treatment condition was modeled using the ANFIS for the starch film. ANFIS is a combination of neural network system and fuzzy logic where it uses fuzzy's If–Then rules and given input–output data pairs for neutral network training. The optimum starch concentration was determined at 6.5% from its degradation ability. It was also found that the variation of starch concentration varied the physical properties of the film, thereby providing a variety of applications for the film in the packaging industry.
