Simulation of LIVE2D Experiment on Reactor Core Melt in Reactor Pressure Vessel Lower Plenum

A model for simulating an experiment on the behaviour of the two-layer reactor core melt in the reactor pressure vessel lower plenum of a pressurized water reactor (PWR), performed in the LIVE2D experimental facility at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), was developed. The model was used to simulate an intermediate state during the transient experiment. The simulated temperatures and heat fluxes are compared with experimental results. The simulated velocity fields, which were not observed in the experiment, are also presented.
