摘要
Thermal fatigue loading of roller surface during hot rolling in relation to oxidation are relevant at early spalling of material from roll surface layer, i.e. wear process, that leads to their considerable shorter service time. In this study different selected cases of extensive oxidation obtained at thermal fatigue testing were selected and analyzed. Obtained results identified conditions, i.e. combination of test temperatures, characteristic of microstructure and chemical composition of matrice and carbides, micro-cracking of eutectic carbides, for accelerated oxidation behavior that lead to early spalling of material from roll surface layer.
