Perhaps you have discovered that sometimes at the office or the hospital we often do things “just because that is way we do it around here” or “this is the way I was taught and I have always done it that way”. The list of these type of traditions in modern MFM and obstetrics practice is varied and long. Sometimes traditions are meaningful and sometimes they are just a practice or an action without a clear corresponding concern or purpose. How do we discern the value of these traditional practices?
