摘要
Thermal imaging is a widely used technique in several real-world applications in which a clear view of an object or scene is required, and obstruction thereof cannot be tolerated. By visualizing the received thermal radiation in the infrared spectrum, a clear depiction of the thermal profile of objects is obtained, that is information-rich and invariant to most severe atmospheric conditions. However, using thermal imaging hardware requires training and hands-on experience that is difficult to obtain. In this paper we explore PICTUM, a fully parameterizable thermal imaging simulation software that can be used to train personnel in various scenarios and digitally recreated atmospheric conditions, in order to provide sufficient experience in a controlled environment, before using the actual hardware.
