Abstract
Industry 4.0 is one of the cutting-edge technologies that many businesses have embraced in order to meet the rising need for customized products for each consumer, i.e., a flexible manufacturing system that produces goods with uncompromised quality. Even though the efficiency in an Industry 4.0 plant is higher, there are certain dynamic parameters of the machine which change over time, decreasing the production efficiency. This problem of the time-varying parameter is tackled with the next level of Industry 4.0 driven through data and intelligence i.e., self-optimizing production systems. This paper describes the optimization potential for the setup of a self-optimizing system in a lab-scale Industry 4.0 benchmark plant which mimics a fluid filling plant. A more innovative approach of linking the Self optimisation process diagram (SOP) similar to the automation pyramid is also discussed to find optimal potential parameters along with the hurdles of establishing a standard communication protocol through Modbus and PyADS to communicate with the various modules present in the plant.
