A three-dimensional structured carbon felt/β-PbO2 sensor with high detection sensitivity, wide linearity detection range, satisfactory service life and low preparing cost was developed for determination of chemical oxygen demand (COD) values in wastewater. Perfect octahedral β-PbO2 microcrystals covered each carbon fiber in the felt. Its unique structure makes it possess huge surface area and abundant active sites for generating hydroxyl radicals (·OH), thus exhibiting excellent performance.
