A simple and sensitive LC-MS/MS method for the quantitation of sertraline and N-desmethylsertraline in human plasma

•A simple LC-MS/MS method for the simultaneous quantification of sertraline and N-desmethylsertraline in human plasma is established.•The method requires a small plasma extraction volume of 200 μL.•The calibration ranges of the method covered the proposed therapeutic concentration ranges for the analytes.•The method was successfully applied to a clinical study to quantify analytes in maternal and umbilical cord plasma.
