In the study of tissue engineering and biology, AI has not only allowed for more sophisticated modeling of tissue-level factors in disease and repair, but has also accelerated the development of novel therapeutics and tissue engineered constructs. For instance, AI-based optimization of polymer design has enabled the development of highly functional materials for cell adhesion, tissue regeneration, and more. Newly emerging areas of research have also included AI-empowered 3D printing of biomaterials, machine learning (ML) for image analysis of tissues, and modeling of structure-function relationships in tissue engineered constructs. Ultimately, AI offers a fundamentally new approach to tissue engineering research through the automated and/or programmatically empowered discovery of tissue-level patterns and design principles. The focus of this special issue is to highlight the rapidly growing applications of AI, ML, and computationally supported methods to the study of tissue engineering and biology. The Guest Editors of this special issue will consider original research papers, methods papers, and reviews concerning the applications of AI and related computational strategies to the broad domain of tissue-level data, including in vitro and in vivo studies. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: Image analysis of cells, tissues, and engineered constructsAI-supported biomaterial design and fabricationComputational modeling of engineered and native tissuesAutomated and/or computationally optimized experiments in tissue engineeringML analysis and feature extraction from tissue-level dataStructure-function relationships in biological and material systemsML-based integration of tissue-level data with clinical metadata for decision supportVisit the Instructions for Authorswww.liebertpub.com/tecSubmit your paper for peer review online:https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tenUpload your manuscript using the manuscript category:Special Issue: AI in Tissue EngineeringFiguresReferencesRelatedDetails Volume 29Issue 8Aug 2023 InformationCopyright 2023, Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishersTo cite this article:Guest Editors: Jason L.
