Abstract
•3-D DIC was used to map strain in situ for Zry-4 and Cr-coated Zry-4 during both 5°C/s temperature ramp tests and pressure jump tests at 600°C.•Addition of Cr-coatings were found to decrease the cladding strain and strain rate.•Temperature dependences and stress exponents for Zry-4 deformation with and without a Cr coating were comparable.
