Improving electrochemical performances of lithium-ion capacitors employing 3D structured Si anodes

•3D structured Si electrode is fabricated using a pore-forming agent.•Structuring process enhances stability and pore structure mitigates crack formation.•Structured Si decreases the charge-transfer resistance and improves cycle stability.•Li-ion capacitor with structured Si anode maintains high energy density at high power density.•We provide facile and cost-effective method for pure Si in industrial applications.
