•The long-term creep behavior of RAFM steel relevant to ITER-TBM operation conditions was investigated.•The average size of newly formed laves phase is not larger than that of M23C6 carbides during the long-term creep process.•The creep void led by the large-size precipitates is the failure mechanism for the long-term creep.
