•A method for generic high‐bit RAW grayscale image displaying on low-bit monitors.•High grayscale chromatogram mapping with power dynamic adjustment is provided.•Adaptive tone correction based on the prior knowledge of RGB perceived brightness.•Correction of color balance based on CMY space is provided.•The details and texture information of the original image can be better preserved.
