Experimental study on mechanical properties of basalt Fiber-Clay lime mortar and application in brick masonry

•Effects of clay-to-lime ratios and basalt fiber dosages on mechanical behaviors of mortar are experimentally studied.•Shear bonding tests on the brick masonry structures using modified mortar are conducted.•Predictive formulae are proposed to evaluate shear bonding strength of the mortar-brick interface.
