Abstract

•Bi12SiO20-BiOI n-p heterojunction composites were created by a post-synthesis protocol.•Reinforced photocatalytic removal of BPA by these composites were obtained.•The effects of different conditions on BPA removal were explored.•A rational type-II photocatalysis mechanism was revealed.
