•Influence of 3D spatial effects of underground structure on its seismic response.•2D model cannot correctly reflect deformation characteristics at 1/2 length of 3D model.•Results of 2D model roughly equivalent to that at 1/4 length of 3D model.•In-plane bending deflection of slabs well reflect structural 3D cooperative work degree.•Conversion coefficients from 2D model to 3D model with 95% probability guarantee.
