Towards systematic measurement of travel problems: A pilot study in the greater Tel Aviv area

•A survey instrument to measure people’s travel problems is presented.•Analysis of three problem types: difficulties in trip-making, dependence on others, and forgoing trips.•Survey in Tel Aviv metropolitan area with 1,430 valid responses.•Results show that most respondents have few (65%) to moderate (28%) problems.•Car-less, low income, and young are over-represented in cluster with severe problems (6%).
