Abstract
Foodsafety is a concerning issue globally. Foodborne-pathogenic-bacteria-derivedfoodborne disease outbreaks have increased the threat to human health.The accurate and rapid detection of foodborne bacteria is of greatsignificance for food safety. A fiber-optic-based biosensor has emergedas a powerful technique for the point-of-care testing of foodbornebacteria in food and agricultural products. This Perspective discussesthe opportunities and challenges of fiber-optic-based biosensors forfoodborne bacteria detection. The corresponding solution strategiesto promote the application of this innovative technology in food andagricultural product detection for food safety and human health arealso discussed and proposed.
