Lung function indices do not affect the incidence of coronary heart disease in patients with sleep-disordered breathing

•Reduced lung function is associated with a higher risk of CHD in non-SDB participants but not in SDB participants.•The incremental contribution of lung function to CHD diminishes with increasing severity of SDB.•The predictive value of lung function indices for CHD in participants without SDB is higher than those with SDB.
