•A flexible, robust melamine foam composite was designed for TC removal via adsorption filtration.•Interfacial TA and BSA architecture onto MF based on simple coordination-driven assembly.•The modified MF displays excellent dynamic adsorption performance for tetracycline (TC) removal.•MF exhibited >95% removal of TC from milk and wastewater within 60 min, at flowrate 100 mL.h−1.
