Abstract
•DCA-CD plus dynamically adjusts the oxygen concentration and storage temperature.•Storage under DCA-CD reduced browning symptoms in ‘Braeburn’ apples.•Variable storage temperatures did not accelerate fruit ripening.•1-MCP had little effect on firmness in DCA-CD while inducing internal browning.•Low oxygen and 1-MCP suppressed the aroma formation in ‘Braeburn’ apples.
