Association of age with computed tomography airway tree morphology in male and female never smokers without lung disease history

•Lumen areas of central airways on CT were smaller in females than in males after adjusting for age and body size.•Older age was associated with larger lumen size of central airways on CT in males, but not in females.•Older age was associated with higher airway to lung size ratio on CT in males, but not in females.
