摘要

•The first employment of Au/ITO-HMM-SPR sensor has been proposed and achieved greatly improved sensitivity.•The excited surface plasmon in HMM was tuned by the metal filling fraction and light incidence angle.•Penetration depth at the sensing interface was found to be enhanced significantly with small incidence angle for the proposed HMM sensor.
