摘要
Ameloblastomas are benign neoplasms of odontogenic origin that grow slowly, are locally invasive, and have high recurrence rates if not treated properly. This study aims to present a conservative approach to a clinical case of conventional solid ameloblastoma. A black 36-year-old black female patient was referred to the UFG dental school with a history of painless swelling in the left mandible and difficulty in opening the mouth. Intraoral examination showed lingual and buccal expansion of the cortical bone. Computed tomography revealed bone expansion with thinned corticals located in the left body of the mandible. An incisional biopsy was performed, accompanied by marsupialization, and the pathological examination was compatible with ameloblastoma. Due to the unsuccessful marsupialization, the taping procedure was subsequently performed under general anesthesia, and the gauze soaked in the procedure's escin were changed twice a week. The patient is undergoing follow-up with the evaluation of periodic radiographic exams.
