From diagnosis to rehabilitation: a unicystic ameloblastoma case report

Ameloblastoma is considered the most common odontogenic tumor. It normally shows a slow and persistent growth, and is considered a locally aggressive neoplasm, affecting the posterior area of the mandible in most cases. This study aimed to report a case of unicystic ameloblastoma. A 21-year-old female patient reported a volume growing on the right size of her face, without other symptoms. Oral clinical examination showed an increase in the mandibular alveolar ridge region, covering the region of the right 1st and 2nd molars . An incisional biopsy was conducted and the anatomopathological analysis revealed a unicystic amelobastoma. A lesion decompression device was implanted. Two months after removing the decompression device, enucleation of the lesion and bone reconstruction with autogenous and xenogenous grafts were performed. Six months later, the patient began rehabilitation with implants, followed by the installation of prosthetic crowns. Ameloblastoma is considered the most common odontogenic tumor.
