Abstract
A 15-year-old boy was admitted to the Stomatology Clinic, complaining of an asymptomatic growth, with 6 years of evolution. Clinical examination revealed a swelling involving the mandible, measuring approximately 9 centimeters and causing facial asymmetry. Multidetector computed tomography examination showed a large hypodense image, with hyperdense foci inside and well-defined borders. The intraosseous lesion caused an extensive expansion without disrupting the buccal and lingual cortical bone plates. The lesion extended superoinferiorly from the coronoid process and mandibular incisor to the base of the mandible and anteroposteriorly from tooth 44 to the posterior region of the mandibular ramus. Anatomopathological analysis showed a cell proliferation of plump and stellate fibroblast-like cells with large nuclei, some clusters of multinucleated giant cells, and areas of hemorrhage. Woven bone surrounding large osteocytes with osteoblasts was observed. Diagnosed with a diagnostic of juvenile ossifying fibroma, the patient was referred to the surgery service.
