ID: 217375 Dorsal Root Ganglion Stimulation: An Off-Label Indication for Targeted Coverage of Chronic Pelvic Pain

Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is a treatment-resistant, complex neuropathic pain state which encompasses a number of painful pelvic disorders affecting women in a range of reproductive ages including inguinal and pudendal neuralgia, coccydynia, and vulvodynia. A majority of the sensory neuroinnervation to the pelvis is derived from the sacral plexus, specifically the pudendal nerve. In contrast to traditional dorsal column stimulation, dorsal root ganglion (DRG) stimulation offers more targeted therapy to focal areas of pain.
