摘要
Introduction: The prevalence of sarcopenia differs per age group and gender. Non-invasive muscle mass indices like mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) and mid-arm muscle circumference (MAMC) have been considered indicators of sarcopenia and predictors of overall mortality. Cross-talk between fat and muscle tissue is likely to be facilitated by myokines, like irisin, which is also implicated in vascular reactivity. We aimed to assess the association between MAMC, MUAC triceps skinfold (TSF) with irisin, and arterial stiffness in a sample of postmenopausal women.
