摘要
Background Peripheral neuropathy are uncommon in multiple sclerosis (MS). However, identification of peripheral nerve abnormalities in patients with multiple sclerosis are attributed either to factors associated with advanced disease or commun antigens between central nerve system (CNS) and peripheral nerve system (PNS) .Our aim is to describe different types of peripheral nerve abnormalities in patients with MS. Material(s) and Method(s) It is a retrospective study of 503 patients with multiple sclerosis at the Neurology department of university hospital center in Oran over a period of 13 years (from january 2008 to march 2021). Were excluded patients without or with normal electrophysiologic exam. We collected demographic, anamnestic, clinical, radiological, and electrophysiological data for patients with abnormalities electrophysiological exam. Result(s) 20 MS patients were included in this study. The average age was 42,2 (±10,3) years. The most patients (15 patients) had a progressive disease course. 55 % patients had lumbar radiculopathy, 5% cervical radiculopathy, 20% carpal tunnel syndrome, 10% axono-demyelinating neuropathy, 5% demyélinating neuropathy and 5% chronic inflammatory-demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP). Conclusion(s) The present study suggest that in some MS patients peripheral nerves are involved in the process of demyelination. Peripheral neuropathy are uncommon in multiple sclerosis (MS).
