Thermogravimetric behavior of mesoporous hydrated silica-alumina trihydrate hybrid powder synthesized by sol–gel/doping method

•A hybrid powder of MHS and ATH was produced via the sol–gel route.•Dehydration behavior of pure MHS, ATH, and MHS-ATH composite were studied.•The MHS-ATH release more water over a wider temperature range than the ATH.•The MHS-ATH powder can be used in the field of flame retardant products.
