A MOPSO-based spectrum modification method for shallow surface electromagnetic detection transmitting scheme

•A novel spectrum modification method based on multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) algorithm is proposed.•The problem of solving the transmitting waveform is transformed into an optimization problem.•Two typical schemes for matching the desired spectrum and maximizing the transmission energy are provided.•Modification of the traditional MOPSO algorithm is made by extending the single population to multiple populations.
