Abstract
•Uncertainty quantification of additive-manufacturing tuning of resonator-based sensors is investigated.•The sources of tuning errors are identified and quantified.•A rigorous measurement-based approach is developed to determine probability distributions governing the tuning errors and extract their statistical moments.•Experimental validation is carried out that corroborates theoretical predictions concerning the type of probability distributions associated with the tuning process errors.•A practical tuning procedure is proposed that allows for reliable sensor tuning to given frequency in a small number of patch placement attempts.
