A hydrogel wound dressing ideally designed for chronic wound care

Chronic wounds are a major challenge to public health around the world and place an enormous financial burden on the government of every nation. Wound dressings that can facilitate wound healing have long been investigated. Based on the pathological characteris-tics of chronic wounds, in a recent issue of Matter, Zhao and col-leagues reported a novel hydrogel scaffold using 3D bioprinting technology. The integration of multiple functions is well adapted to the care needs of chronic wounds and has been verified in animals with infected chronic wounds. The application of these new technol-ogies is an important contribution to the development of new clin-ical dressings.
