Abstract
•Collagen VI deposition correlates with higher T cell density in prostate cancer patients.•CD4+ T cell motility is ablated on Collagen VI due to a loss of traction force generation.•Integrin alpha 1 (ITGA1), a known receptor of Collagen VI, is absent in all T cell subsets except tissue-resident memory CD8+ T cells in the prostate tumor microenvironment.•ITGA1 blockade diminishes the ability of CD8+ T cells to migrate on Col VI-rich matrices, thus is essential for navigation of the prostate tumor stroma.
