(561) Phase Angle Assessment and Its Correlation with Biochemical Parameters and Body Composition after Heart or Lung Transplantation

median age, 43 (31-53) years, 115 (74%) men] were enrolled for this study, and they were divided into two groups according to donor age [donor age ≥ 65 years (older donor, OD group) and donor age < 65 years (younger donor, YD group)].The primary endpoint was defined as 3-year mortality after HTx, and secondary endpoints were presence of donor transmitted atherosclerosis, development of any rejection, development of cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV), and any coronary interventions for CAV.Serial cardiac function assessed with echocardiography and right heart catheterization 1 month and 1 year after HTx were also assessed.Results: Twelve patients received older donor hearts ≥ 65 years (OD group).Recipients in the OD group were significantly older compared to the YD group [age, 60 (46-63) years vs. 41 (30-52) years, p<0.001].Regarding cardiac function, OD group demonstrated higher E/e' and lower cardiac index (CI) compared to those in YD group 1 month after HTx [E/ e', 12.5 (9.0-16.8)vs 9.5 (7.5-11.8),p=0.027;CI, 2.8 (2.4-3.2) l/min/m 2 vs. 3.3 (2.9-3.9)l/min/m 2 , p=0.014].At 1 year after HTx, comparable CI with still higher E/e' were observed in the OD group [E/e', 11.9 (8.3-11.6) vs. 8.0 (6.6-10.5),p=0.020;CI, 3.3 (3.1-4.5)l/min/m 2 vs. 3.7 (3.3-4.2) l/ min/m 2 , p=0.55].Three patients developed primary endpoint during the follow-up period [2.6 §0.8 years] and the 3-year overall survival was comparable between groups (90.0% vs. 98.6%, p=0.069).Furthermore, secondary endpoints were comparable between groups.Conclusion: Despite reduced diastolic function of cardiac allograft, recipients in the OD group demonstrated comparable outcomes compared to the recipients in the YD group.This study suggested that HTx using carefully selected older donor hearts ≥ 65 years can be acceptable in terms of shortterm outcomes.
