Relationship between Fields, banks and farmstead at an early Iron Age site in Northern Denmark

•Relationships between Celtic fields and farmsteads remains elusive.•Pre-roman Iron Age Celtic fields and farmstead were excavated below drift sand.•The Celtic fields were probably in use shortly, but still lived longer than the farmstead.•Earthy material was added to the fields, while the nutrient improvement was limited.•Texture suggest the field bank consists of soil thrown onto it from both sides.
