Theoretical model for predicting stabbing resistance of soft body armor comprising fibrous composites

•The theoretical model can accurately predict the stabbing resistance performance of soft body armor made of aramid with resin or unidirectional PE composites.•The theoretical model can quickly obtain the time history data of penetration point and penetration depth, which are difficult to measure in experiment.•The theoretical model can guide the flexible and lightweight design of soft body armor.
