Chopped liver: A guide to robotic hepatic parenchymal transection

Background: To improve patient outcomes, laparoscopic hepatic resections (LHR) became an increasingly accepted alternative for traditional, open hepatic resections (OHR), but presented some unique challenges. Robotic hepatic resections (RHR) can overcome several of the challenges of LHR. However, there is currently no consensus on the preferred method for parenchymal transection in RHR. The purpose of this review was to describe the various techniques of parenchymal transection in RHR.
