A Contemporary Age-Based Evaluation of Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement Outcomes and Temporal Trends

Given the ageing population and increasing uptake of transcatheter aortic valve replacement for the treatment of aortic stenosis (AS), a renewed evaluation of outcomes after surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) is warranted. With recent guidelines providing age-based recommendations, this study critically evaluated postoperative outcomes in age-based subgroups, with the aim of refining AS management in the elderly, where there is no clear consensus.
