•Intraoperative injection of radiotracer and blue dye in the surgical staging of early stage vulvar cancer is feasible.•Intraoperative injection is an effective technique with similar successful mapping rates compared to historical data.•Intraoperative injection should be considered an alternative to nuclear medicine injection in vulvar cancer surgical staging.
